about
"No Ticker" is the debut single for the relatively new band of journeymen musicians known as The One Twos - a band that knocks out old school inspired “protest punk”. Voicing an Australian accent and pushing forward undiluted points of views, “No Ticker” is a no-nonsense, no frills, chunk of punk. This two minute and forty-one second intense volley of anger and frustration is directed at those who would dare to "re-claim" our country. As vocalist Mik Weird snarls in the lyric: "what have you got to reclaim? It was never yours in the f**king first place!"
Committed to 1/4 inch tape by Luke Yeoward at Half Way Records, “No Ticker” comes from the band's debut long player, "Keep Punching", which will be released in the latter part of 2019. The accompanying video, produced by Mark Bakaitis, features provocative images and slogans, yet it is undeniably an anti-racist protest song.
lyrics
Sit around, sit and bitch,
Hardly move, do anything,
Got a lot, a lot to say,
Never happy, ‘less it goes your way.
Got opinions, like to make a fuss,
Got a foot, I’ll put it up your arse!
Sick of you and your ranting ways,
Now I got something, something to say!
No ticker and nothing upstairs,
No ticker, you’re driving me spare,
No ticker, you got nothing to say,
No ticker, just go away!
Now you’re up and you fly a flag,
Southern Cross and you got a plan,
Gather up a small-minded crew,
Now you think you got something to prove.
Take a stand, listen, rant and rave,
Remind me of something from a yesterday;
’39 and someone to blame,
For the fact you can’t get your own way!
No ticker and nothing upstairs,
No ticker, you’re driving me spare,
No ticker, you got nothing to say,
No ticker!
What have you got to reclaim?
It was never yours in the fucking first place!
No ticker and nothing upstairs,
No ticker, you’re driving me spare,
No ticker, you got nothing to say,
No ticker, just go away!
No ticker and nothing upstairs,
No ticker, you’re driving me spare,
No ticker, you got nothing to say,
No ticker, fucking go away!

The One Twos knock out, old school inspired punk, with slaps of garage and dashes of reggae. All swagger and no frills, the
music is served up with gritty guitar, plucky bass and thumping drums and acidic vocals – is anything else really needed? Lyrically, “protest punk” would be a fair description for the band’s songs....more
